"The Actor" or "Ghostface" was a Killer speculated to be added to Dead by Daylight alongside Sidney Prescott in late August 2017 after some faked Daily Rituals, formerly having been posted on Reddit, resurfaced on the Steam Forums.

The Ritual was faked so effectively that people (understandably) took it for confirmation, as the exact same occurrence had leaked The Hag back in November 2016.

Background

The Actor would have been based on the Character Ghostface from the Scream series.

Ghostface

Ghostface is a fictional identity adopted by several Characters of the Scream series. It first appeared in Scream (1996) as a disguise used by teenagers Billy Loomis and Stu Macher during their killing spree in the fictional town of Woodsboro.

The Character was named after a rubber Halloween mask inspired by the Edvard Munch painting The Scream. He has also been called the Woodsboro Killer, after the town where the Ghostface costume was first used to commit murders. He often called his victims on the phone, taunting or threatening them before stabbing them to death with an eight inch hunting knife. He occasionally asked his victims horror movie trivia, and stalked them in a manner reminiscent of said films.

The Character is used primarily as a disguise for each of the antagonists to conceal their identity while conducting serial murders.

Loadout

The Actor would have used a Power called Imitate.

It would have allowed him to imitate Survivors and thus ambush them in a surprise attack.

Trivia

• The Actor's name and power would have been leaked in the same way as had previously happened with The Hag: a player received a new Daily Ritual using the new values and text strings.
• The fake Daily Ritual was titled "Rite of the Imitate" and required the player to use The Actor's power "Imitate" to surprise attack Survivor 11 times, rewarding 65000 Bloodpoints.
  • This fake Daily Ritual also would have revealed the name of the new Chapter, Imitate as the all DLC Rite Rituals use the name of the respective Chapter.
