Trivia

  • Until its rework, Tinkerer was effectively without use on several Killers.
  • Tinkerer's old flavour text still addressed The Hillbilly by his Alpha name "The Crooked", rather than by his current name:
    • "The Crooked makes impressive tools out of scraps... Tools aimed at maiming us in creative ways... It's horrifying to think it's actually intelligent." — Unknown, Notebook
  • Tinkerer's activates earlier, if a Generator's Repair requirement is lowered by outside effects (e.g. Brand New PartIconAddon brandNewPartIconAddon brandNewPartIconAddon brandNewPart, Invocation: Weaving SpidersIconPerks invocationWeavingSpidersIconPerks invocationWeavingSpidersIconPerks invocationWeavingSpiders).

2.1.0 Rework

Tinkerer required an immense workload of additional coding each time new Add-ons were created, since the Developers had to work with a static buff and keep in mind that Add-ons without it shouldn't be too weak and those with it shouldn't be too strong.

They compared that workload to creating a second set of Unique Perks for any new Killer, something they were no longer willing to do and thus intended for Tinkerer to be reworked eventually, which happened with Patch 2.1.0.

Add-on Support Issue

The original Tinkerer did not officially support any new Add-ons released after CHAPTER 4: Spark of Madness.

However, due to intertwined code, it unintentionally somewhat supported the wind-up Add-ons for the Hunting HatchetsIconPowers huntingHatchetsIconPowers huntingHatchetsIconPowers huntingHatchets (CHAPTER 5: A Lullaby for the Dark) and the The Afterpiece TonicIconPowers gasBombIconPowers gasBombIconPowers gasBomb (CHAPTER 8: Curtain Call).
