The Realm Beyond was a series of graphical updates as part of a massive rework of most of the assets and Maps found in Dead by Daylight, which started with Patch 4.2.0 in September 2020.
In a Developer Diary released mid-February 2021, the Developers expanded on their original plans and also include reworks to the Characters, including animations, visual effects, textures, etc.
Overview[]
The update was split across several parts, each updating a handful of assets and Maps from the Game.
This may also include new animations, visuals and sound effects.
Midway Update[]
At the half-way point of the update series, the Developers also started addressing the Characters, starting with new locomotion animations for Survivors and texture updates for Character models.
Updates to Characters were planned to include new animations, visual effects, 4K textures and more.
Colour-Blindness Support[]
Since Dead by Daylight heavily relies on the colour red, Players suffering from colour-blindness often experience difficulties with tracking Scratch Marks, discerning Auras from backgrounds, etc.
The Developers planned to implement a feature that would allow these Players to address their individual type of colour-blindness and intensity, which was ultimately implemented in Patch 4.6.0:
