The Demogorgon is one of 38 Killers featured in Dead by Daylight.

It was introduced as the Killer of CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things, a Chapter DLC released on 17 September 2019.

It originates from the 2016 Sci-Fi-Horror Web Television series Stranger Things.

The Chapter was temporarily retracted from Dead by Daylight between 17 November 2021 and 6 November 2023, but it remained a playable Character for anyone who already owned it.

Overview

The Demogorgon is an unidentified Killer, able to open multiple Portals and traverse between them to cover large distances. Using its Power, Of the Abyss, it can detect any Survivors within a close proximity to the Portals then unleash a leaping attack to inflict damage from a distance.

Its personal Perks, Surge, Mindbreaker, and Cruel Limits, impact the environment close to Generators and affect nearby Survivors in unexpected ways.

During the Chapter's temporary departure from Dead by Daylight, these Perks were replaced with a generic variant each: Jolt, Fearmonger, and Claustrophobia. These generic perks have been replaced with The Demogorgon's original Teachable Perks with the Chapter's return to Dead by Daylight.

Difficulty Rating: Hard
(These Killers use mechanics that are specific to them and require more practice to be effective)

Lore

A blooming mouth full of needle-like teeth for a face, large, curved, razor-sharp claws, and powerful legs to pounce on victims, make The Demogorgon a frightening monster to face in any dimension. It is a nightmare of unrestrained, feral rage as it hunts down its prey and rips it to pieces, devouring every last morsel of flesh and gore, leaving nothing for scavengers. The creature is untouched by any sense of compassion or restraint. Looming over its victim, it shows no doubt or mercy, just the pure instinct of its insatiable blood lust as it delivers the deathblow. A perfect hunter, The Demogorgon is a macabre testament to the horrors lurking in the Upside Down and why it was choice pickings for The Entity.

Unique Perks

The Demogorgon comes with 3 Perks that are unique to it:

Cruel Limits Your ties to the otherworldly manifest when your prey attempts to get away.

Whenever a Generator is completed, Cruel Limits activates:

  • Blocks every Vault location on the Map for all Survivors for the next 20/25/30 seconds.
  • The Auras of the blocked Vault locations are highlighted to you in yellow.
"The specimen seems to be able to affect the state of nearby objects, as if they existed in some other form within a dimension alternate to our own." — Hawkins National Laboratory
Mindbreaker Your distressing presence drains and weakens your prey.

All Survivors repairing a Generator suffer from the following afflictions:

  • Incurs the Blindness and Exhausted Status Effects for the duration of the Repair action.
    • If a Survivor was already suffering from Exhausted prior to Mindbreaker affecting them, the Status Effect's timer will be paused and not recover for the duration of the Repair action.
    • Both Status Effects linger for another 3/4/5 seconds after a Survivor stops repairing.
"The specimen's apparent telepathic ability can evoke feelings of dread and fatigue in nearby individuals." — Hawkins National Laboratory
Surge Your eerie presence charges the air and interferes with technology.

Whenever you put a Survivor into the Dying State with a Basic Attack, all Generators within 32 metres of your location instantly explode and start regressing.

  • Instantly regresses affected Generators by 6/7/8 %.
"The creature appears to have some unknown influence over electricity and nearby electronics." — Hawkins National Laboratory

Prestige

Prestiging The Demogorgon will automatically add Tier I of its Unique Perks to the inventories of all other Killers and unlock the ability for their higher-tiered versions to spawn in their Bloodweb.

Prestige The Demogorgon twice more to automatically add Tier II and Tier III respectively into the other Killers' inventories.

Weapon: Barbarous Claw

The Barbarous Claw is the Primary Weapon of The Demogorgon.
A gargantuan hand of immense strength.
Its long fingers can brutalise prey.

Power: Of the Abyss

"An unknown and otherworldly power surged through its body.
Suddenly the ground ripped open, swallowing The Demogorgon whole."

SPECIAL ABILITY: OF THE ABYSS
Press and hold the Power button to channel Of the Abyss:

  • Triggers Killer Instinct on Survivors inside the Area of Effect of Active Portals.
  • Unlocks the ability to perform a Shred Attack.

SPECIAL ATTACK: SHRED
Press the Attack button after charging Of the Abyss to at least 65 % to dash forwards and unleash a vicious slash:

  • Causes The Demogorgon to lunge forwards at 18.4 m/s.
  • Grants the ability to destroy Breakable Walls and dropped Pallets.

SPECIAL OBJECTS: PORTALS
The Demogorgon starts the Trial with 6 Portals.

Press and hold the Secondary Power button to bend down and create an Inactive Portal in the ground:

  • Inactive Portals are invisible to Survivors and cannot be sealed.
  • Inactive Portals do not have an Area of Effect and thus do not trigger Killer Instinct.

When The Demogorgon interacts with Inactive Portals to traverse the Upside Down, both the Portal he travels from and the one he travels to are transformed into Active Portals:

  • Active Portals are visible to Survivors and can be sealed.
  • Active Portals have an Area of Effect of 4 metres around them.
    • Survivors inside the Area of Effect suffer permanently from the Oblivious Status Effect and are revealed by Killer Instinct while The Demogorgon is channelling Of the Abyss.

SPECIAL INTERACTION: SEALING PORTALS
Survivors can interact with Active Portals to seal them, either alone or together with other Survivors, though at increasingly reduced efficiency:

  • 1 Survivor seals a Portal in 12 seconds.
  • 2 Survivors seal a Portal in ~9 seconds.
  • 3 Survivors seal a Portal in 8 seconds.
  • 4 Survivors seal a Portal in 6 seconds.

Sealing a Portal will recycle it into the inventory of The Demogorgon.

SPECIAL LOCOMOTION: TRAVERSING THE UPSIDE DOWN
Press and hold the Secondary Power button while standing atop any Portal and aiming at any Highlighted Portal to enter the first Portal and traverse the Upside Down, appearing at the second Portal:

  • Transforms Inactive Portals into Active Portals.
  • Grants the Undetectable Status Effect for 5 seconds.
