Thanatophobia is a Unique Perk belonging to The Nurse.
Prestige The Nurse to Prestige 1, 2, 3 respectively to unlock Tier I, Tier II, Tier III of Thanatophobia for all other Characters.

Description

This description is based on the changes announced for or featured in the upcoming Patch 6.1.2 / 6.1.3

Their courage fades in the face of their undeniable mortality.

Each injured, dying, or hooked Survivor afflicts Survivors with a stack-able 1/1.5/2 % Action Speed penalty to Repairing, Sabotaging, and Cleansing, up to a maximum of 4/6/8 %.
Increases the Action Speed penalty by a further 12 %, if there are 4 Survivors, who are either injured, dying, or hooked at the same time.

Patch 2.6.0

Buff: changed the penalty modifiers to a stackable 3/3.5/4 % up to a maximum of 12/14/16 %.

Patch 4.3.0

Nerf: no longer applies its penalty to Healing actions.
Buff: now applies to Totem-Cleansing speed.
Buff: increased the Penalty percentages from 3/3.5/4 % to 4/4.5/5 %.

Patch 6.1.0

Buff: further increased the Penalty percentages from 4/4.5/5 % to 4.5/5/5.5 %.

Patch 6.1.2

Nerf: drastically reduced the Penalty percentages from 4/4.5/5 % to 1/1.5/2 %.
Buff: added an additional +12 % Penalty, if all four Survivors are either injured, dying or hooked.
- This adds up to a maximum Penalty of 20 % when all four Survivors are injured.

Trivia

"Thanatophobia" literally means "Fear of Death".
- It is a compound word consisting of Θάνατος ("Thanatos") the Greek name of Death and -φοβία ("-phobia") the Greek suffix used to form nouns describing a fear of a specific thing.
In the Game files, Thanatophobia is often misspelt as "Thatanophobia".
The icon of Thanatophobia is also used for the "Custom Game" Tab in the main menu.
