Change Log

Patch 5.3.0

  • Retired: with the departure of CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things from Dead by Daylight, Surge was reworked into a General Killer Perk: JoltIconPerks surge.
    • For Players who had owned CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things before its removal, Jolt would still show the original flavour text in the description and the Character association with The Demogorgon.

Patch 6.1.0

  • Buff: removed the Cool-down from the Perk.
  • Nerf: instead of a fixed penalty of -8 % across all Tiers, Surge (then Jolt) now applies a tiered penalty of 6/7/8 %.

Patch 7.0.0

  • Buff (undocumented): Survivors now scream in addition to being interrupted by the exploding Generator.

Patch 7.3.3

Patch 7.4.0

  • Change: Surge is now once again a Unique Perk.

Patch 7.5.0

  • Change: does not trigger a Loud Noise Notification if no Progression is lost on a Generator.
    • This change is due to the addition of a limit to how often individual Generators can experience a Regression event.

Trivia

  • The Regression Penalty of Surge is not applied on top of the default Regression Penalty of a failed Skill Check, which would be 10 %.
    • This also applies to Generators that are already regressing.
    • The penalty is fixed, meaning Surge will only apply its stated percentage and not stack on top of the default penalty of a missed Skill Check, as some Players believe.
  • Since any affected Generators start regressing automatically, Surge conflicts with using Pop Goes the WeaselIconPerks popGoesTheWeasel or OverchargeIconPerks overcharge. It does, however, activate SurveillanceIconPerks surveillance on Generators affected by it.
