Skill Checks are a Game Mechanic of Quick Time Events (QTE) in Template:IconLink, that have a chance of appearing while performing various interactions.
Overview
A Skill Check has a chance of appearing during an interaction with a Prop or in some cases with the Template:IconLink. To succeed, the Player needs to tap the secondary action button (default: SPACE) when the pointer of the Skill Check is inside the highlighted area. The pointer moves clockwise on a dial.
A Skill Check announces itself shortly before appearing via a gong-like sound.
A Skill Check can be triggered at any given moment:
- Different interactions have different chances of triggering them.
There are currently four types of successful Skill Checks that award points:
Good Skill Check
Succeed a Skill Check in the transparent section.
- Grants 50 Template:IconLink.
Great Skill Check
Succeed a Skill Check in the white section.
- Grants 150 Bloodpoints and a 2% bonus to progression.
Hex Skill Check
Only if under the effects of Template:IconLink.
Succeed a Skill Check in the red section.
- Grants 150 Bloodpoints and no penalty to progression.
Insane Skill Check
Only if under the effects of Madness inflicted by the Template:IconLink.
Succeed a randomly placed Skill Check
Failed Skill Check
Failing to succeed a Skill Check in any of the aforementioned sections.
- The action will lose some progression and come to a halt, momentarily pausing any further progress. It will also give the Killer a noise indicator.
- This can also be used strategically to attract the Killer's attention.
- If you failed a Skill Check on a Template:IconLink while using Template:IconLink, there's a chance that the the Generator will not explode, and the Killer will not receive a noise indicator.
Dream World
Survivors can be woken up from the Dream World by failing various Skill Checks.
- Failing a Template:IconLink
- If there are multiple survivors repairing the generator and one survivor fails a skill check, all of them will wake up.
- Failing a Healing Skill Check with a Template:IconLink or with Template:IconLink
- Having another Survivor fail a Skill Check while healing you.
Interactions that might trigger a Skill Check
- Repairing a Template:IconLink.
- Healing oneself with a Template:IconLink or Template:IconLink.
- Healing other Template:IconLink.
- Sabotaging Template:IconLink or Template:IconLink
- Using Template:IconLink
- Snapping out of Template:IconLink Tier III.
- Interacting with Template:IconLink.
