Change Log
Patch 1.5.2
- Buff: now extends its effect to all Survivors present in the Trial and can stack its effect with other instances of Open-Handed.
Patch 4.7.0
- Buff: doubled the effect from 4/6/8 metres to 8/12/16 metres.
- Nerf: no longer stacks with other instances of Open-Handed.
- This nerf was added as a counter-measure to the doubled strength of Open-Handed's effect.
Rules
Open-Handed is particular about the type of Aura-reading it will extend and follows two basic rules:
- Open-Handed only affects Aura-reading that has a finite range
- Example 1: Bond's Aura-reading is limited to 20/28/36 metres around the Survivor using it --> it has a finite range
- Example 2: Aftercare's Aura-reading has no such limitation --> it has an infinite range
- Open-Handed only affects Aura-reading whose source emanates from a Survivor
- Example: Kindred's Aura-reading on the Killer is based on the location of the hooked Survivor, not the Hook itself
Special Cases
The following section lists Perks that Players commonly assume to work with Open-Handed, but actually do not, or vice versa:
Boil-Over
Boil Over is not affected by Open-Handed as it violates Rule #2:
- The ability to read the Aura of nearby Hooks emanates from the Killer, not from the carried Survivor.
Hex: No One Escapes Death
Hex: No One Escapes Death is not affected by Open-Handed as it violates Rule #2:
- The ability to read the Aura of the Hex Totem emanates from the Hex Totem itself, not from a Survivor.
Knock Out
Knock Out is affected by Open-Handed as it fulfils both rules:
- Rule 1: Knock Out modifies the ability of Survivors to read the Aura of dying Survivors to have a limited range.
- Rule 2: the ability to read the Aura of the dying Survivor emanates from the dying Survivor.
Quick Gambit
Quick Gambit is affected by Open-Handed as it fulfils both rules:
- Rule 1: Quick Gambit reveals the Aura of Generators in a limited range.
- Rule 2: the ability to read the Aura of the Generators with that range emanates from the chased Survivor as the radius' centre-point.
However, it must be noted that the range of the Repair-Speed bonus is limited to the original Aura-reading range, as Open-Handed generally does not affect any non-Aura-reading effects.
Wiretap
Wiretap is not affected by Open-Handed as it violates Rule #2:
- The ability to read the Aura of the Killer near the Generator emanates from the Generator itself, not from a Survivor.
Trivia
- Before its nerf in Patch 4.7.0 which prevented stacking, Open-Handed could extend Kindred's ability to read the Aura of the Killer to a radius of up to 32 metres.
- Open-Handed mitigates the effects of Knock Out by extending the radius inside which the Auras of dying Survivors can be read by the other Survivors.
