Description
Evil has a way of always finding you.

After triggering your third Protection Hit, Mettle of Man activates:

  • While injured, Mettle of Man shields you from going down the next time you take damage.
  • Healing back to full health will reveal your AuraIconHelp aurasIconHelp aurasIconHelp auras to the Killer whenever you are farther than 12/14/16 metres from them.

Mettle of Man deactivates the next time you are put into the Dying StateIconHelp dyingIconHelp dyingIconHelp dying.

Increases your chance of becoming the initial Obsession by increasing the default value by +100 %.

The Killer can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

After getting hit 3 times by a Killer's Basic Attack, Mettle of Man activates.

Once activated, the next occasion that would put you into the Dying State from the Injured State is ignored.

The next time you heal back to full health, your Aura will be revealed to the Killer when you are farther than 12/14/16 metres from the Killer.

Mettle of Man will deactivate the next time you are put into the Dying State.

Increases your chances of being the Obsession.

The Killer can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

Patch 3.0.0

  • Nerf: changed the activation condition to require triggering the Protection Hit Score Events instead of getting hit by regular Basic Attacks.

Patch 3.3.0

  • Buff: can now be activated more than once per Trial.

Patch 6.1.2

  • Rework: reworked Mettle of Man to be more in line with other Perks granting the Endurance Status Effect.
    • Change: now reveals the Aura while Endurance is active.
    • Quality of Life: reduced the required number of Protection Hits from 3 to 2.

Patch 6.2.0

  • Reversal: reverted Mettle of Man back to its previous version.
    • The reversal was motivated by an overwhelmingly negative community response, who perceived the perk as even weaker than before.
  • QoL: no longer causes Endurance to appear in the Status HUD in order to differentiate from Mettle of Man's unique effect.

Trivia

  • After Mettle of Man deactivates, any subsequent Protection Hit will start to accumulate new Tokens again, allowing for the Perk to be used several times in a single Trial.
  • Mettle of Man will still activate even if a Survivor has the Deep WoundIconStatusEffects deepWoundIconStatusEffects deepWoundIconStatusEffects deepWound Status Effect, and does not apply Deep Wound on activation.
  • Mettle of Man will not protect you from being put into the Dying StateIconHelp dyingIconHelp dyingIconHelp dying if you are HealthyIconHelp healthyIconHelp healthyIconHelp healthy.
