Prestige The Artist to Prestige 1, 2, 3 respectively to unlock Tier I, Tier II, Tier III of Grim Embrace for all other Characters.
Each time a Survivor is hooked for the first time, Grim Embrace gains +1 Token and activates once you are at least 16 metres away from the Hook
:
- 1-3 Tokens: Blocks all Generators
for 6/8/10 seconds. - 4 Tokens: Blocks all Generators for 40 seconds and the Aura of the Obsession is revealed to you for 6 seconds.

Patch 7.1.0[]
- QoL (undocumented): increased the Aura-reveal duration from 5 seconds to 6 seconds.
- This change was most likely motivated by general changes to the Hooking interaction in the same Patch, which moved the Survivor's scream from triggering after the Hook pierces them to just before they are put onto the Hook itself, about a second earlier.
- Since this also moved the activation trigger for Grim Embrace to be about a second earlier, the Aura-reveal duration was increased by that second to compensate for the Killer still being stuck in the Hooking animation when the Aura-reveal begins, unable to move their camera around and make use of the Aura-reveal effect.
- This change is deemed a Quality of Life change because of that, as the resulting usable Aura-reveal duration of the Perk remains effectively the same.
Patch 7.5.0[]
- Buff: now also blocks Generators for a shorter duration when having just 1-3 Tokens.
- Buff: changed the Block duration on 4 Tokens from a variable 30/35/40 seconds to a fixed 40 seconds.
- Nerf: added a stipulation to first leave the Anti-Camping range around the hooked Survivor before Grim Embrace will trigger its effect.
Patch 8.0.0[]
- Nerf: reduced the duration of the Generator blocking for the first 3 Tokens by 2 seconds to 6/8/10 seconds.
