The The Dream World is one of 8 known sub-realms to the Entity's Realm in which Template:IconLink takes place.

Overview

The The Dream World is used exclusively by The Template:IconLink, other Killers do not have access to it.

The The Dream World is on a different plane of existence to the Entity's Realm, marked by thick clouds of fog, a sky streaked with black and white, and everything being drained of colour.

The overall effect is similar to as if the Entity's Realm would be viewed through an old black-and-white television set, but with some tints of colour remaining.

Entering the Dream World

The Nightmare's mere presence in a Trial slowly lulls Survivors to sleep, a state called "micro sleep", indicated by a timer on top of their icons. Once the timer reaches 60 seconds, Survivors are fully asleep, indicated by a cloud-overlay on their icon, and enter the The Dream World.

The Nightmare can force a Survivor to instantly enter the The Dream World with a successful hit; additionally, his Ultra Rare Template:IconLink automatically force one or all Survivors to begin the Trial in the The Dream World.

Dream World Effects

The Nightmare is fully visible to Survivors within the Dream World; however, The Heartbeat heard within his Terror Radius is replaced with a hummed lullaby. The lullaby is quieter than the Heartbeat and is omni-directional, making it impossible for Survivors to identify The Nightmare's position relative to them.

Survivors in the The Dream World will be affected by The Nightmare's Dream Traps': Dream Snares or Dream Pallets. They are also afflicted with the Template:IconLink Status Effect.

Many of The Nightmare's Add-ons further penalise Survivors in the The Dream World, either by hindering them directly or by empowering the Killer.

Leaving the Dream World

To escape the Dream World, Survivors must awaken from their sleepwalking state. This can be accomplished in one of five ways:

  • Being woken up by an awake Survivor
  • Being put on a Template:IconLink
  • Failing a Template:IconLink or Template:IconLink Skill Check
  • Activating Template:IconLink
  • Using the Template:IconLink found around the Map

Once a Survivor wakes up, they return to the Overworld and their sleep timer is reset.
If they wake up by using an Template:IconLink, their sleep timer is put on a cool-down of 30 seconds before the micro-sleep timer is re-initiated.
