A Survivor's Aura-reading

Auras are an integral Game Mechanic in Dead by Daylight IconHelp DBDlogo.png.


Overview[]

For a guide on some in-game distances to better gauge the working-radius of Aura-reading Perks, please refer to Distances.

Some Unlockables unlock potential in one's Aura-reading abilities.

Auras can be seen through any obstacles and usually across large distances. Aura-reading abilities are great for locating Allies, Enemies or Objectives.

Aura-reveal vs. Aura-Flare-ups[]

The are two main types of Auras in Dead by Daylight: Aura-reveals and Aura-Flare-ups:

Whereas Aura-reveals or just Auras are continuous and reveal not only a Survivor's location, but also their every action for their duration, Aura-Flare-ups are a mere snapshot of a Survivor's location at the time of it being triggered.
Unlike Aura-reveals, they do not relay the Survivor's actions and are always of the same red colour.


Aura Colours[]

Auras come in different colours.
Over the years, there have been several attempts at standardising Aura-colours for specific meanings.
The following table discerns the different meanings of Aura-colours.
It should be noted that one is not necessarily able to read these Auras by default:

  • Items: Items are objects Survivors can use in the Trial
  • Killer Objects: Killer Objects are associated with a Killer's Power
Red Primary Objectives Reveals the Aura of momentary primary Objectives:
  • Dying Survivor (for Survivors): the primary objective is to heal them
  • Generators (for Killers): the primary objective is to prevent their completion
  • Hatch (for Survivors): the primary objective is to escape
  • Hooks (for Killers): the primary objective is to hook a Survivor
  • Survivors (for Killers): the primary objective is to hunt them down
Fuchsia Secondary Objectives Reveals the Aura of momentary secondary Objectives:
  • Chests (for Survivors): the secondary objective is to unlock them for an Item
  • Hex Totems (for Killers): the secondary objective is to prevent their destruction
Yellow Allied Objects Reveals the Aura of allied Objects:
  • Generators (for Killers): indicates a Survivor has recently interacted with a Generator
  • Other Survivors (for Survivors): other Survivors are allies in the Trial against the Killer
  • Vault Location: indicates Vault Locations that can be used or shut down
Pink Enemy Objects Reveals the Aura of enemy Objects:
  • Killer (for Survivors): the Killer is the primary adversary of Survivors
Brass Killer Traps Reveals the Aura of Killer Traps:
  • Bear Traps: Bear Traps can injure Survivors
  • Blackened Catalyst Traps: Blackened Catalyst Traps can trigger and allow The Hag to teleport to them
Orange Event Objectives Reveals the Aura of Event Objectives:
  • Generators (for Survivors): repairing special Event Generators will grant bonus Bloodpoints
  • Hooks (for Killers): hooking Survivors onto special Event Hooks will grant bonus Bloodpoints
Blue Blessed Objects Reveals the Aura of allied Objectives:
  • Boon Totems (for Survivors): Boon Totems provide Survivors with special benefits

Additional Uses[]

  • In cases of Auras being used to showcase a progression of an action, the object's Aura will slowly transition from white when the action begins to red when the action has reached completion.

Uses a wavelength that links the patient's and The Doctor's minds.
This procedure is known to cause mild cases of hallucination in the patient.
  • When a Survivor's Madness IconStatusEffects madness.png increases a Tier, their Aura IconHelp auras.png is revealed for 1 second.

Survivors with Madness suffer from the Affliction of Restraint:

  • Increases the Illusionary Doctor duration by +8 seconds.

The Doctor shares in his patients' Madness in order to see the Illusionary Doctors.

  • When a Survivor's Madness IconStatusEffects madness.png increases a Tier, their Aura IconHelp auras.png is revealed for 3 seconds.

Vanity Mirror
Vanity Mirror A standing portable vanity mirror in perfect condition except for a fine layer of dust and face powder covering it.
  • The Auras IconHelp auras.png of all Survivors within 16 metres of The Shape are revealed while Stalking in Evil Within II.
  • Grants 100 % bonus Bloodpoints for Hit Score Events in the Brutality DailyRitualIcon brutality.png Category.
  • Grants 150 % bonus Bloodpoints for Hit Score Events in the Deviousness DailyRitualIcon deviousness.png Category.
  • The Shape is unable to progress past Evil Within II.

Rainbow Map An piece of parchment made out of oddly fresh skin with blood on its edge that has yet to dry, and that is rolled and sealed with multiple coloured ropes and cords.

Holding and channelling the Rainbow Map unlocks great potential in your Aura-reading abilities, revealing the Aura IconHelp auras.png of all tracked objects at the cost of slowly burning it.

  • Start the Trial with 3 random objects tracked.

The Rainbow Map tracks any of the following objects:

Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability.
  • The AurasIconHelp auras.png of Survivors, who are healing or being healed, are revealed to you when they are within a range of 20/24/28 metres.

Barbecue & Chilli Barbecue & Chilli
A deep bond with The EntityIconHelp entity.png unlocks potential in one's Aura-reading ability.

After hooking a Survivor, all other Survivors' AurasIconHelp auras.png are revealed to you for 4 seconds when they are farther than 40 metres from the HookIconHelpLoading hook.png

  • Each time a Survivor is hooked for the first time, gain a stack-able 25 % bonus to all Bloodpoint gains, up to a maximum of 50/75/100 %.

The bonus BloodpointsIconHelp bloodpoints.png are only awarded post-Trial.

Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability:
  • Each time a GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators.pngis completed, the AurasIconHelp auras.png of all Survivors within 16 metres of that Generator are revealed to you for 5 seconds.
  • Once the last Generator is completed, the Auras of all Survivors are revealed to you for 5/7/10 seconds.
Blood Warden Blood Warden
As soon as one Exit GateIconHelp exitGates.png is opened, Blood Warden activates.
  • The AurasIconHelp auras.png of SurvivorsIconHelpLoading survivor.png standing within the Exit-Gate area are revealed to you.

Once per Trial, hooking a Survivor while Blood Warden is active calls upon The EntityIconHelp entity.png to block the exits for all Survivors for 30/40/60 seconds.

Your ties to the EntityIconHelp entity.png manifest when your prey attempts to get away.

Whenever a GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators.png is completed, all WindowsIconHelp window.png and Vault locations within 32 metres of it become blocked for all Survivors for the next 20/25/30 seconds.

  • The AurasIconHelp auras.png of the block Vault locations are revealed to you for the duration.
Cruel Limits Cruel Limits
THIS PERK HAS BEEN RETIRED.

Your ties to the otherworldly manifest when your prey attempts to get away.

Whenever a GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators.png is completed, all WindowsIconHelp window.png and Vault locations within 32 metres of it become blocked for all Survivors for the next 20/25/30 seconds.

  • The AurasIconHelp auras.png of the blocked Vault locations are revealed to you for the duration.

Dead Man's Switch Dead Man's Switch
After hooking a SurvivorIconHelpLoading survivor.png, Dead Man's Switch activates for the next 35/40/45 seconds:
  • While activated, any SurvivorIconHelpLoading survivor.png that stops repairing a GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators.png before it is fully repaired causes The EntityIconHelp entity.png to block the Generator until Dead Man's Switch's effect ends.
  • Affected Generators are highlighted by a white AuraIconHelp auras.png.

Deadlock Deadlock
You induce mental suffering by crushing any hope of escape.

Whenever a GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators.png is completed, The EntityIconHelp entity.png blocks the Generator with the most progression for 20/25/30 seconds.

  • The AuraIconHelp auras.png of the blocked Generator is revealed to you in white during this time.

Deerstalker Deerstalker
Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability:
  • The AurasIconHelp auras.png of all SurvivorsIconHelpLoading survivor.png in the Dying StateIconHelp dying.png within 20/28/36 metres of your location are revealed to you.
Discordance Discordance
Any GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators.png within a range of 64/96/128 metres that is being repaired by 2 or more Survivors is marked by a yellow AuraIconHelp auras.png.
  • When the Generator is first highlighted, Discordance triggers a Loud Noise Notification on the Generator.
  • After the Generator is no long within range or is being repaired by just 1 Survivor, the highlighted Aura will linger for another 4 seconds.

The NE-α parasite provides you with the intelligence and awareness needed to set a trap.

After kicking a GeneratorIconHelpLoading generators.png, its AuraIconHelp auras.png is highlighted in yellow.

  • Each Token grants a stack-able radius of 20/22/24 metres within which the Killer is unable to read your AuraIconHelp auras.png, up to a maximum of 60/66/72 metres.

Increases the odds of becoming the Killer's initial Obsession by +100 %.
The Killer can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

  • The AurasIconHelp auras.png of the Exit Gate SwitchesIconHelp exitGates.png are revealed to you within 128 metres.
  • When opening an Exit Gate, your Aura is revealed to all other Survivors within 128 metres.
  • You open Exit Gates 15/20/25 % faster.
