2v8 is an upcoming alternate Game Mode that will be available between 25 July and 8 August 2024.


It features 8 Survivors playing against 2 Killers with a modified gameplay loop.

Queueing with Friends[]

It is possible for Survivor Players to queue up together with their friends to play in this mode, just like with regular ranked Trials.

As an additional first, Killer Players can also queue up with a friend to play as the two Killers in that Trial.

2v8 therefore combines both a Survive with Friends and Kill with Friend mode.


2v8 takes place on one of 5 random Maps.
Each Map is a supersized version of an existing Map.

Gameplay Changes[]


Each Map features a total of 13 GeneratorsIconHelpLoading generatorsIconHelpLoading generatorsIconHelpLoading generators, of which Survivors must repair 8 in order to power the Exit GatesIconHelp exitGatesIconHelp exitGatesIconHelp exitGates.

Entity Cages[]

Instead of hooking Survivors, a mechanic similar to Cages of AtonementIconHelp cagesOfAtonementIconHelp cagesOfAtonementIconHelp cagesOfAtonement is used.
Downed Survivors are sent to Cages.

Survivors have Cage States, instead of Hook Stages.

Being uncaged, unlike being unhooked, does not alarm The Killers with a Loud Noise Notification.


Each Map spawns a total of 20 ChestsIconHelp chestsIconHelp chestsIconHelp chests.

Self-Heal Ability[]

Survivors automatically gain the Self-Heal after reaching 2 Cage States and entering their final life.

No Perks[]

2v8 plays without any PerksIconHelp perksIconHelp perksIconHelp perks.

Instead, Survivors have Classes that grant them special default abilities, whereas Killers can rely on their shared Team-Power and Skills.


Classes are determined in the Lobby and influence how a Survivor will play the 2v8 Trial.
Classes are visible to all other Survivors both in the Lobby and on the HUD during the Trial.

Survivors can freely choose their preferred Class, they are not bound to specific Characters or Players.

There are 4 Classes and each comes with 3 unique abilities:


IconClass Medic
  • Ability 1: grant nearby Survivors a boost to their Healing speeds.
  • Ability 2: see Auras of injured Survivors.
  • Ability 3: default increase to Healing speeds.


IconClass Mechanic
  • Ability 1: reveal your Aura and that of the Generator you are repairing to your team.
  • Ability 2: see Auras of Generators.
  • Ability 3: default increase to the Progression bonus when hitting Great Skill Checks.


IconClass Scout
  • Ability 1: reveal the Aura of a Killer breaking a Breakable Wall or Pallet or damaging a Generator.
  • Ability 2: reveal the Aura of a Killer who is in your Line of Sight to your team.
  • Ability 3: you make no sounds when injured and have an increased Crouching speed.


IconClass Runner
  • Ability 1: shared sprint burst (also applies to nearby team mates).
  • Ability 2: reveal the Auras of Breakable Walls, Pallets or Windows.
  • Ability 3: default increase to Running speed while injured.


2v8 is restricted to the following selection of 5 original Killers:

Killers have a shared Team-Power based on their unique Skills and come with slight balance and base-kit tweaks to make them play better in this mode.

The Trapper[]

  • More Bear Traps by default.
  • Faster default Setting speed.
  • Set Bear Traps imbue the other Killer with a speed boost.

The Wraith[]

  • Extends the UndetectableIconStatusEffects undetectableIconStatusEffects undetectableIconStatusEffects undetectable Status Effect when Cloaked to the other Killer when nearby.
  • Faster default Cloaking and Uncloaking Action speeds.
  • Even faster Movement speed while Cloaked.

The Hillbilly[]

  • Reduced default Cool-down times when colliding with obstacles.
  • Increased control of the Chainsaw.
  • The Chainsaw no longer applies double damage to hit Survivors.
  • Survivors suffer from the ExposedIconStatusEffects exposedIconStatusEffects exposedIconStatusEffects exposed Status Effect during a Chainsaw Sprint.

The Huntress[]

  • More Hunting Hatchets by default.
  • Faster default Movement speed when out of Hatchets.
  • Faster default Reloading speed at Lockers.
  • Survivors hit by Hunting Hatchets have their Aura revealed to the other Killer.

The Nurse[]

  • Extended default Lunge range.
  • Extended default Chain Blink Window.
  • Reduced default Fatigue duration.
  • Is granted an additional Chain Blink when near the other Killer.


  • 2v8 will return with new iterations and additional Killers in the future and has a chance to become a permanent Game Mode at some point.
  • The Classes "Escapist" and "Guide" were called "Runner" and "Mechanic" at some point in development, according to the file names of their icons.
  • 2v8 uses the internal food-based code name "Calamari".
